Determinants of PCB Quotes
2024/07/08

The PCB quote is mainly determined by the following factors:

1. Material type and quality.
Printed circuit board materials, such as FR-4 (glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin), metal substrates, high temperature pressure resistant materials, etc., directly affect the cost. Prices vary greatly from material to material, with high performance materials usually costing more. The quality and certification of the material will also affect the cost.
2. Number of PCB layers.
The number of layers on the board refers to the number of vias and wires on the board. Multilayer PCB boards are more expensive because they require more materials and processes to produce.
3. Board size.
Larger board sizes require more materials and more complex manufacturing processes and are therefore more expensive.
4. Line complexity.
The more complex the density and layout of the devices on the board, the more difficult it is to manufacture and soldermask, resulting in higher prices.
5. Production volume.
High volume PCBs are less expensive because production costs can be reduced through bulk purchasing of materials, automated production and increased efficiency. Small batch production is more expensive.
6. Special requirements and processes
If the customer has special requirements, such as surface treatment, protective coating and testing, these additional requirements and processes will also increase the price of the printed circuit board.

7. Market Competition and Supply and Demand: Tight supply and demand and fierce market competition can lead to price increases.

When selecting a PCB supplier, the following factors should be considered.

1. Process situation.
Whether the factory can provide consistent with the design requirements of the process, such as gold immersion process, leaded tin spraying. The quality of the process directly affects the performance of the circuit board.
2. Equipment.
Advanced equipment to produce samples out of the higher yield, can ensure quality and delivery efficiency.
3. Delivery cycle.
High-quality PCB factories will integrate the resources of all parties, so that the delivery cycle as fast as possible.
4. After-sales service.
Quality after-sales service can solve the problems encountered in the actual use of the board, is not to be ignored when choosing a PCB factory.
5. Balance of price and quality.
Do not just pursue the low price, we should consider the price, quality, delivery cycle and after-sales service and other factors.
6. Customer reviews and cases: You can refer to the manufacturer's customer reviews and product cases to understand its reputation and experience in the industry. To sum up, when choosing PCB factories, you should comprehensively consider multiple factors such as their process equipment, delivery lead time, after-sales service and the balance between price and quality, in order to choose the most suitable partner for your needs.
